Haudenosaunee: Interesting Facts

                    The Haudenosaunee people live in what is now New york. Not all though, some tribes retreated to Canada in the 1700's. The six languages that were spoken were Mohawk, Seneca, Oneida, Onandaga, Cayuga, and Tuscarora.  Most men learned to speak Mohawk because it was the language they spoke for trading. Here are some words that are translated from English to Mohawk:  Dog=Erhar Man=Ronkwe   Woman=Yakonkwe   Water=Ohneke   Sun=Karahkwa   Moon=Ehnita   One=Enhskat
